Tom: being a mosaic artist this is fascinating. Was the original a mosaic that you filtered and then dodged and burned above? No an artist does not have to give up their secrets...;o)
I burned the edges of the mosaic and dodged the three light/white areas. I added the poster edges filter after the dodging and burning.
